XADC-Armoloy®: The Best of Two Worlds

Using advanced "Ultradiamond" technology developed in the former Soviet Union, The Armoloy Corporation® created a harder metal coating called XADC-Armoloy® in 1997. This diamond-chrome coating eclipses the normal life expectancy of metal surfaces subjected to extreme wear, abrasion and corrosive stress.

XADC-Armoloy® coating incorporates perfectly spherical and extremely dense "Ultradiamond" composite particulate into the Armoloy® process in an evenly dispersed form, to achieve hardness measurements exceeding 98Rc. XADC-Armoloy® offers unequaled durability, lubricity, adhesion, and resistance to abrasion.

Technical Performance: XADC-Armoloy® exceeds the boundaries of standard coatings available in today's marketplace without the need for special engineering design or production modifications. A precision deposit of .0001/.0003" (2,5-7,5 microns) is carefully bonded to the basis substrate providing a thin, hard, protective coating.

Absolute Adhesion: XADC-Armoloy® will not fracture from the basis metal unless the metal substrate itself fractures or fatigues. The absolute adhesion that is created via the application of XADC-Armoloy® is a major benefit to its users. XADC-Armoloy® passes the ASTM B 571-91 bend test without chipping, cracking or separating from the basis material.

XADC-Armoloy® will adhere and perform well on all major ferrous and nonferrous basis materials with the exception of aluminum, magnesium and titanium.

Functional Temperature Ranges: XADC-Armoloy® withstands temperatures from -400°F to 1600°F (-240°C to 870°C). At temperatures above 1200°F, XADC-Armoloy® will react with certain materials such as carbon monoxide, sulfur vapor and phosphorus. Temperatures above 1800°F are not recommended.

Friction Reduction: XADC-Armoloy® reduces friction to a very high degree.

Galling conditions can be eliminated with XADC-Armoloy®, which effectively allows XADC-Armoloy® coated parts to operate against other XADC-Armoloy® coated parts.

Testing indicates the inherent lubricity of XADC-Armoloy® may reduce the need for lubrication, providing cleaner working areas and more environmentally friendly processes.

Corrosion Resistance: Tests have shown that XADC-Armoloy® provides corrosion resistance exceeding 440C stainless steel. Corrosion tests utilizing ASTM B117 procedures have met and exceeded the requirements found in ASTM-2438.
